NEED suggestions/advice

so i too k the DAT last year and got an AA18 (21, 17, 16, 19, 16) PAT 22 GPA above than 3.5 cumulative and science.
and i apllied to few schools (late) and didn't get accepted to any.
This year i'm planning to retake the DAT in the last week of august. i know i can score higher than my last DAT, but not sure how much higher i could score.

Q's:
How many schools i should apply to?
do i have a chance if i apply now with my old score?
what should i do if i don't score really high this time? (like if i score an 19 or 20 AA only with nothing below 18)?

i was out of the country last fall. and i was taking 17 credits in the spring semester. and between jobs and family, i can't find enough time to study.

applying late isn't going to help you. get a good score now, and then apply early next year. at least, that's what i would do 🙂

ok sorry cuz i didn't include all info in my post. i submitted my application 10 days ago for 7 schools only. i thought about this. but i don't want to sit home for 2 years and i don't want to go get a masters's cuz i ain't got no money left on me.

I am in a similar situation, i have recently started considering joining my old PI in doing a masters in biomedical engineering... have you considered doing research based masters? you will GET paid, albeit not much, you will have enough to live on.

iam, i am in the exact same position as you are. my scores and gpa almost exactly the same. i submitted my app on june 15 and it was sent to my designated schools on july 16. i have been studying my ass of to take the dat again probably mid aug. like in 2 or 3 weeks. im scared as hell that im not going to do better even though i know its not possible since i have been studying so hard for 8 weeks now. i am a little older 26 and really want to get in this cycle. i know i should have taken the dat earlier but i was hoping to get into temple or md where i was wait listed. i got rejected everywhere else but i submitted to late, like in august and didnt take the dat till the end of sept. what a waste of money. anyway i know having a complete app by the end of aug isnt great but i plan to fax my official dat scores to the schools that accept them which is many of them. i havnt contacted the schools yet to let them know i am retaking, i dont know what to do about that. have you let the schools know? good luck and i know exactly how you feel

no not yet cuz my app is yet to be sent. but i will as soon as they get it. ill keep u posted and u keep in touch since we both are in the same situation. good luck to u

It's really about how much you have changed since last year applying. If you have not done much since last year, I don't see how applying again will really do anything. The more schools you apply to the higher your chances but you should only apply to schools that has a high acceptance rate for your state. If you score average, they will look more to what types of experiences you have gained since last year. If you were busy doing all sorts of things and still maintaining a great g.p.a., they will look more on that stuff. In dental school you will have to juggle different things and if you show them how capable you are, I do not see why they won't accept you.
