Hi i'm an int'l student in electrical engr., my gpa is 3.6 and just got back my mcat score, it wasn't as I had expected, 9v 9p 10b and an L!! in writing  .. english is a second language for me but i didn't expect an L since I did ok in the prep course tests, it seems that I missed one of the required parts
what do you guys think of my chances of getting accepted ? I'm planning to retake the mcat in august, do you think it's a good idea ? also my school's elect engr program ranks in the top 10 in the US, will the adcoms consider this in their decision ? will they even bother checking ?

btw are there any other int's students in this forum ?

Any suggestion would be appreciated ! Thanks !! :)

I think you have a good shot. I would apply and if you think you could do better on your number scores then take it again.

As far as the L goes, the writing sample doesn't matter. It is so subjective and admission com. know that. I know someone will argue, but if you get high numbers the written section is ignored.

good luck

THANK GOD! another international student to talk to.
I'm studying a BEng in Electronic Engineering and MEdical Engineering in England.

I'm desperate to do medicine, and it has to be done in the states.

How are you going about it? i have a thousand questions:
1. how will you fund it (the fees are extautionate for intl's).
2. did you have to take the GRE or do a post-bac?
3. how old are you?
4. how lond did you prepare 4 the MCAT, what books did you use?

i'm sure there's more i want to ask, i just can't think right now.

Cheers!

I honestly wouldn't retake it. As an international student you can definately use the english as a second language to your advantage.

Just my 2 cents...
