Hey all,

I would be grateful for a piece of advice here.

I have AA25, TS23, but my cGPA is 3.5 and sGP 3.25. I have applied to 3 texas schools (resident), UConn, UNE, UPenn, Harvard, Columbia, Tufts, and Ohio state. I know some of these schools are reach schools for my stats.

I am an Asian American female and go to one of the top 15 liberal arts in New England area.

Do you think I should apply to more schools? Which schools would you recommend?

Thanks so much for your help!!!

Dang, we have almost exact same stats. AA 24, TS 25, cGPA 3.43 and sGPA 3.27. Asian too. Good luck to both of us!

I suggest adding some more private schools like Western, LECOM, NOVA. You can also try UDM and Michigan. I still need to finalize my list too.

Ohio isn't out of state friendly so don't even waste the money applying there. Also how are you a Texas resident when you go to school in New England?

Uh, how is that not possible..? Your residency doesn't change when you go to a school out of state.

I don't know I was asking. I go to my in state school for undergrad so I wouldn't know. I thought it changed.

I would add maybe a couple more schools like Boston U and Tufts (if you want to stay in NE).
oops, forgot that I had Tufts. I already applied there. Not really fond of BU with how they run things.

Isn't it kinda late for us to apply to more schools as well? I know that some has already sent out the first round of interviews.

Do UDM and Michigan have secondary applications??

Also, I have so many other Asians telling me that my GPA is too low to have a good chance. Have you been getting this kind of comments too?

I'm not sure. I'm submitting next week so I will know then.

I have been getting them! That's why I don't have great confidence and am applying to 25-30 schools just to be on the safe side (also I'm submitting quite late due to late DAT)...

I hope both of us get into dental schools.

No it's not too late. As long as you meet the deadlines you're good.

That's a ridiculous amount of schools. You're looking at around 8k+ for just submitting the application and supp fees.

Your sGPA is below average but your DAT is high enough that it shouldn't be a concern. You might not be as competitive at certain schools (e.g. Harvard), but your chances overall should be fine.

With that said I wouldn't have applied to UConn - even if you went to a school in New England, your state of residency is Texas, and it's extremely difficult to get into UConn from outside of the northeast states.
