If anybody is familiar with USUHS, I could use some advice.

I just got the conditional acceptance for this fall (OMGSPLOSION). My situation is that I am in a post-bacc program (drexel's, i guess it works), and have time to withdraw from the spring semester. USUHS doesn't care, and it would save me like 15 grand, but i'm worried because I don't have the official unconditional acceptance yet (have to wait for physical and security background checks). I'm in decent shape with no significant health history probs, and I've always been the good kid, so I can't forsee being rejected for health/security grounds. Still, it's unnerving to decide to leave, just in case something happens.

Does anybody here know how it usually works out? Know if anybody is ever actually rejected post conditional acceptance? Do i actually need to worry about this?

Also, if anybody else has gotten into USUHS and is planning on going, drop me a line, classmate.

Thanks folks

I did not go check to see if you posted this in there--but the Military forum may be a better place to ask this. (Just ignore all the ppl who will say to not go to USUHS).

I would be very careful about the physcial portion of the conditional acceptance. You will most liklely not have any problems with the security clearance, but you never know how the results of your physical will turn out. I almost lost my ROTC scholarship back in the day because I broke my ankle in 10th grade. That's it, a broken ankle from a soccer game, yet they failed me. I eventually got it cleared up, but it just goes to show how you just can't predict the outcome. One of my friends almost got dropped from the Naval Academy because he was one misdiagnosed with childhood asthma...even through he was an all-conference cross country runner. Your past/current physcial health is no indication of what will happen with the military.

According to a lot of my friends (not official), it's pretty rare that someone who is offered an acceptance is rejected based on their physical exams.

From your posting, it seems like you're in good shape without anything abnormal that you know of, so I would think you would be okay with withdraw.

As long as USUHS doesn't care, I say go for it!

Hey Vintage - when did you interview and how long after did you get the acceptance?

Hey Doc,
I had my interview on Nov 3rd and just got the letter a couple days ago

I applied and was given a conditional acceptance in mid October. I already had a security clearance, so the physical qualification was the only roadblock and I thought that would be easy, because I'm an active duty pilot and have a yearly physical which is one of the most restrictive in the entire military. Well, due to a minor problem which didn't affect my flying career I was physically disqualified. I requested and got a waiver, but it took about two to two and a half months to get.

I don't know how common it is for a waiver to not be approved, but many, many minor conditions will cause you to be disqualified. I would advise you to not go into too much detail, short of dishonestly omitting serious conditions. DODMERB is seriously *****ic and can't even use their own simple rules... they disqualified me for something I've never had and didn't change their decision when my military flight doc wrote to tell them I had never had that problem.
