So just like the endless abyss of posts that come right before the cycle opens here is yet another seeking the ever so soothing posts that you all provide here on SDN! 🙂

Background. Re-applicant. Applied to 11 schools last cycle. 2 Interviews no acceptances. App was complete super late (Aug). For this cycle I am wondering should I retake the DAT and sacrifice getting my app completed late and if my school list looks right.

Im not concerned with traveling across country if I have to for school because after all the end goal is to become a dentist and not to brag or boast about the school I went to. Ill have around 80 hours of dental shadowing, several EC's during undergrad and graduate and research experience.

Undergrad: Bio Major did undegrad research 3.32 GPA (blehhh yeah too much partying)
Masters: Mol. Bio/Biotech: 2yr research 3.89

DAT : I want to retake but I really dont want to risk getting my app in late (this was the hold up last year)

I know the academics are a little on the low side, but I like to play that up with the balance of my EC's and Research/Work experience, my selling point here is my ability to be well-rounded haha.

If I were you, I would retake. Your TS is pretty low. Lower than the national average I believe, but your masters GPA is great. I would contact the schools your interested in going to and ask them. Obviously the more schools you apply to, the better your chances.

August isn't "super late" at all. It isn't "early," per se, but it's still perfectly fine.

I'd retake. Study for 1.5 months and take it in mid-July. You'd still have everything in by August--and once again, August is perfectly fine. 🙂

I'd add 2-3 private schools to that list, just for good measure.

2 interviews and no acceptances? How good would you say your interviewing skills are? If they're not great, I would consider working on them.
