Hi there,
Friday I performed venipuncture with a BD vacutainer eclipse needle. When I pulled the needle out of the patient some blood spat on the ground. When I wanted to throw away the needle, the needle was also displaced and therefore not capped. Because I'm just starting venipuncture I was also nervous and I can't quite remember what I did. I'm afraid I have a needle stick injury but I did not feel a sharp pinch nor blood. I only had a weird feeling on my left index finger (but I'm right handed), but I saw nothing. Now yesterday evening I saw a sort of paper cut on my ring finger (right hand), I was wondering if a needle stick injury could result in a "paper cut". I think I'm just over-stressing but I would like to know what your view is.
