I recently received a job offer (Yay I know) but it was to be placed in a highly undesirable area, but there was no type of incentive(i.e. increased salary, benefits, etc) just received a standard package. I was wondering if anyone had any insight on how to negotiate this?

Mind telling us what company and is it rural?

Is it in writing that you will get 40 hours a week? You can negotiate that. How about ask for moving cost?

Can try to ask for 2 weeks vacations to start if you are in retail. Dunno if you can do that anymore tho in this saturated market.

Rx manager typically get paid $3-11 extra depending on how rural it is. If you are a staff, you can't get anything more, you gonna get paid a staff rph minimum hourly, pretty much the same as someone who live in nice areas (cities).

*edit* talked it out it went well thanks for the replies

Honestly, if it is a retail position you don't really have a lot of room to negotiate. There are just too many RPhs looking for jobs, especially new grads who have the flexibility to move into rural markets. I would counter on the rate, but I would make sure you are getting 40 hrs and 2 weeks paid vacation at minimum. I think you have some room there. You can ask for a relocation bonus to help with moving expenses, but don't be surprised if they deny it.

Wake up and read the plentiful posts on this beat up topic. If you are still not satisfied my income statements for the last six years will bring you down to earth. :poke:
