Hello all,

I was wondering if anyone has ever tried negotiating costs/ financial aid with dental schools. I know that a lot of people do it for other graduate schools like law school. For example, if you get accepted into a school that offered you a scholarship, however it is not your choice school and you write a letter or call your choice school letting them know that they are your choice school, however the other school offered you scholarships, and if there was anyway to offset the cost?

I was just wondering since a friend of mine was able to do this with law school and ended getting 25k off each year for law school that way. When I researched it, I don't see any resources talking about this regarding dental school, usually only other graduate schools like law school.

Thanks in advance, and I would love to hear your stories if you have tried this.

lol that doesnt work for DS. they can easily replace u with another applicant

It doesn't hurt to try. Be tactful and just express "interest" in knowing if the school is able to offer anything comparable to the other institution's scholarship. I feel it's fine to ask, so long as you don't word it as if you're pitting them against each other over some kind of deal.

yeah..negotiating doesn't really happen. sure it might if you're a beast, but this isn't law school. applications for d school are on the rise (as you can see by the new schools opening up left and right), so i agree with aznboi.

my pessimistic view of the situation is that you're only as good as how much tuition you can pay. can't pay it? oh well, there's someone on the waitlist who will pay.

You mean you are indispensable; God's gift to DS.

Like my trip to Honduras when an old lady tried to sell me peanuts for 4 pesos but I countered that I was offered 2 pesos up the street for twice the amount? I was not aware that this was possible for dental school, but if it is, my mind is waiting to be blown.

Somehow I don't think peanuts and dental schools fall in the same category... 😉

Haha I was just wondering since I am unaware of how the law schools work as opposed to dental schools. Thanks for the responses. I will try negotiating with pesos and peanuts and blow your minds.

I wish they did! They would definitely be a macadamia nut or better

can't decide if it's because they're pearly white like teeth...or because they're expensive as ****
