neonatology

Does anybody now how tuff the neonatology residency is. How much more do neonatologist make than general pediatricians? I know some questions have been answered before, but I would like an updated view. I know the job market was good a few years ago but not sure about the current situation. Is three more years worth it?

There have been several posts about this over the last month or two. If you do not get a good response, do a good search under neonatology in the peds forums and you will find a gold mine of information.

The job market is still excellent and will remain so I believe for the forseeable future for either private practice or academics.

Sorry, others will have to help you regarding salary.

No need to apologize, I just wanted to let you know that many neonatology issues have been discussed extensively in the past month or two so it may be more beneficial to do a search.

Salary information, from what I have heard, is highly variable from region to region, hospital to hospital, academic vs. private.

www.salary.com has information for neonatology (under "pediatric neonatology" in the "health care- practitioners" section.) However, I do not know how accurate are the numbers on this site.

You will not find a single pediatrician or subspecialist that went into it for the money. Generally, they make a lot less than their medicine counterparts. However, neonatology seems to be at the higher end of earning potential among pediatric subspecialists. You work hard for your money however.
