Hello Classmate!

I too am starting my M1 year at Neoucom 🙂. I'll see you August 25 👍 👍

Tatabox80 is an MS2 at NEOUCOM

Hi there Celsus, are you a Direct Entry or BS/MD student?

TaTaBox, are you a D.E. or are you BSMD?

I was a BS/MD at the U of A. (C2) Its good to talk to some fellow classmates

Do you have any advice for those of us who are just starting?

Hi there,
Advice eh? It really isn't as bad as you think, however it still stinks 🙂 Just so you know, lots of people will give you advice, some bad, some good. I found that listening to M2's confused me more than anything else!! 😀 Eventually you'll find what works for you in medical school. As far as studying goes however...I would try to go over the day's material during the same day (if you can) then just try to review during the weekends. I found this difficult to do, but when I followed that type of schedule I found that I knew the material better and felt more comfortable during the exams. Also, term I is very lab heavy. Don't forget about lab! I found that labs were much easier to study for and in classes such as anatomy and MANT, lab was worth 50% of your grade. Also neuro lab can really save your a$$ because the lecture portion of the exams can be shady in my opinion. If you get behind and it's getting close to exam time, study lab hardcore...you can learn more in a shorter period of time. You will have lots of time to have fun and still study. These are just my two cents...it's what worked for me, but other people have different opinions on what works. However, I found that as long as you keep distractions out of your life (if you can) and study hard you won't have any problems. Good luck and PM and me if you have any questions! Oh yeah, be cautious about M2's advice!!!

Oh yeah, by the way! I'm a Direct Entry student!!

Thanx Tatabox...hope to see you around campus! 😀 🙂

Quick question...are we requied to have life insurance?

hey chriseli are you a C2 or C3?

hey im a c2 as well... how many c2s is your class sending this time?

We aren't sending very many less than 10, but we have a ton of c3s matriculating. 🙂

Yes, I think it's required for you to have life insurance as well as disability. However, they're both for a small amount.

What books should I get as supplement to the NEOUCOM curriculum??

Im not exactly sure about NEOUCOM...but I have heard that you are supposed to buy review books as early as possible to study for boards. I took biochem at Univ of Akron and Lippincott's Illustrated Biochem was amazing. You would have thought that Dr. Smith was teaching straight from it. I have also heard great things about the Netter Atlas, but I like the one by Rohen because there are actual digital photos granted its of dead bodies...but thats what we are dissecting. If you find out anything helpful for neuro let me know 🙂

Thanx and if I find out anything i will be suret o let you know 👍

Hey there guys. As far as anatomy goes...you will need Grant's atlas and dissector for the class. In retrospect the only things I used to study for lab were my dissector, grant's atlas and the Netter flashcards...they rock. I bought a crapload of other books which I never used. Some people said they like the Gossling or McMinn's atlas. I bought Gossling's, never used it. As far as neuro is concerned, STUDY THE SYLLABUS!!! a lot of their questions are NOT "board style questions" they are "whatever the professor feels like testing you on questions." Also, make friends with Dr. Puder! She will be your guardian angel in neuro with her kick a$$ reviews. She's super duper!
Lipincott's is great for biochem. Also you guys will soon be accustomed to the peer mentor folder. There will be condensed biochem notes in there that will help. Buying any book for mant other than an atlas is a waste. For behavioral...don't worry about behavioral. Hope that helps...

Anyone else in here from NEOUCOM?

Are we assigned carrals or do we pick the ppl we want to be with?

Same thing with anatomy lab partners?
