Does anyone understand this Topscore question (SNS 1, q. 69)?
What is the net ionic equation for this reaction:

HCl(aq) + NaOH -> H2O(l) + NaCl(aq)

Topscore's answer:
H3O+(aq) + OH-(aq) -> 2H2O (l)

I could correctly answer all the other G'Chem questions. I just don't quite understand Topscore's logic for this question...

Sodium and Chloride must be spectator ions not involved in the neutralization reaction that produces Water.

btw, do you expect to be accepted to a doctoral program with that gpa?

Thanks, lol, no I don't expect to be accepted but it's worth trying :laugh: Worst case scenario: I'll receive a rejection letter. I mean if I get a double digit score (e.g. 10/30) I'll have a good chance. 😉
