I'm currently an MS1 and I am highly considering rads for residency. I wanted to know how to network with people who are influential in the field and that can help me when applying to residency or maybe write me a LOR.

Do you contact them and ask them to shadow them ? Do you try to get involved in a research project with them ?

Any help would be appreciated.

Definitely research. Unless the person you want to work with is in IR, in which case shadowing may also be helpful (though not as helpful as actually doing a rotation during your 3rd/4th year).

While doing research in any field looks good for residencies, doing research in radiology not only gets you a chance to publish in rads journals but also enables you to work closely with a mentor and get a good LOR out of it.

BTW I love that Mr. Burns pic, it's the one from Smithers's fantasy correct?
