Apply broadly. Have a personal statement that explains clearly why you chose neurology and a story that backs it up. Also be prepared to answer “why did you not take the USMLE?” at your interviews. If you have faculty with good connections to neurologists at major academic institutions, that couldn’t hurt as well.
