So Neurology isn't a required core rotation at my school, though it's an option with the alternative being various outpatient medicine clinics.

I've heard some schools require a neurology rotation in order to do an away rotation there. Anyone know if this is true? Any other reasons to do Neurology rather than some sort of outpatient medicine?

Im not sure how it is at the majority of institutions but the ones i am familiar with require no previous clerkship to be completed prior to doing an away rotation in that field. My school does not offer EM as a core clerkship (but does require neurology) and i fully plan on doing an away rotation in EM during 4th year.
