So we all know folic acid supp is needed for many anticonvulsants pheny... blah blah and all the other common ones cbz. However I was recently made aware that too much folic acid supplementation can also result in increase seizure and decrease anticonvulsant drug levels. I tried to find some more primary lit on this but most seem to be pretty archiac and i don't have the broad journal access that I once had as a resident.
May be some of you guys can chime in on this? Is this why usually folic acid is given 1000mcg, which was the max limit that didn't show an increase in seizure rate in that one study that I can't remember. Forget if they're preg or not, lets just say a 60yom/f post menopause. May be one of you guys can cite me the article so I can look it up cause I can't seem to dig it up, at least not the primary lit.
