Hey everyone,
I'm a psych intern currently doing my neurology rotation. The main reference I'm using at the moment is Kaufman's but I realize Kaufman's is really just providing me with a foundation for my general neurology knowledge. Now for my program this neurology rotation has consisted mostly of neurocritical care, so what I've found to be the most captivating so far are the various psychiatric presentations ive seen in some of my stroke patients [depending on the area of the infarct.] Anyway I was hoping to get some recommendations for any good texts for understanding neuropsychiatric syndromes/presentations from various neurologic pathology (like strokes or lesions in various parts of the brain; like the thalamic area vs in the frontal lobes for example and how they differ in psychiatric presentation)

I really appreciate any suggestions. Thanks so much!

I've got Lishman's Organic Psychiatry in my library. While I haven't spent a significant amount of time with it, I've enjoyed what I've read. It can be a bit basic at times but nonetheless may fit the bill with respect to what you're looking for.

And for ~$100 on Amazon, it's not too expensive.

Lishman is THE textbook in the field.

However I also really like Texbook of Clinical Neuropsychiatry and Behavioral Neuroscience by Moore and find it complementary to Lishman.

Don't waste your time with the APA neuropsychiatry textbook, it's garbage (as is the standard APA textbook of psychiatry)

Other texts focusing on the exam part would be Hodges Cognitive Assessment for Clinicians and The Mental Status Examination in Neurology by Strub

You don't like Cummings and Mega?
