has anyone had the problem of being unable to relax? after spending so much time meticulously micromanaging my premed career, studying for finals, juggling responsibilities and generally being an anxiety-ridden mess, i am unable to enjoy my breaks. my mind inevitably drifts to tasks that don't need completing for quite some time or compulsive worrying about things of no real consequence-- "neurotic unhappiness." I wasn't always like this and i feel like the condition was induced by my premed lifestyle. it's getting to be a major problem. am i the only one?

My advice is to take things slowely. Dont stress those things that are out of your hands. When i applied I had a plan A, plan B, C and D.
A- Plan A was to hopefully get into my first choice med school.
B- get accepted to any other accredited school I applied to.
C- Do a masters and and reapply
D- If all else fails there's always the carribean med schools or a DO

If the idea is to become a doctor no matter what then there is always a way, you just have to be willing to do it. In the end I had to use plan B (2 acceptances so far, more interviews in Jan). But if I had to go to my plan C or even D I would do it in a heartbeat.
So relax and enjoy your last year of freedom before med school, believe me it will be!!
Take care, hope I helped.
