First and foremost, I apologize to anyone who feels inferior for this post or if I sound pretentious in any way. That is not my intention, and will issue a personal apology/remove the post if necessary. I want others to feel more comfortable in terms of preparation for medical school/medical school admissions.
Background: I am a current senior applying this cycle (MD/DO) and received two acceptances. My final did not go as planned in a biology class, and that puts me at a wildcard between a B+ and an A- (it's really up to the mercy to my professor, since they mentioned that the grade cutoffs are not hard). Assuming all my other classes are okay, my cGPA should be around in the mid to low-3.8s worst case scenario. I am not sure how to feel about my sGPA (mid/high-3.7s best case scenario, low/mid-3.7s worst case scenario). I currently sport a 3.85 cGPA and a mid/high 3.7 sGPA.
However, my biology grades have me worried. All Bs I received thus far are all in biology, and I have not received an A in any biology classes (other than labs) whatsoever, with the highest I got was A-. I have not had any Bs since sophomore year. I have vastly changed my approach to biology classes, and although I think grades are not the best at determining progress, it does not really show that I became more comfortable with the material. I am also not sure how to interpret my 127 B/B subsection on my MCAT as a good or bad indicator.
Therefore, should I take an additional biology class for the final semester of college? Or should I pursue other methods of learning (Opencourseware or Khan Academy) in that time instead? I am completing a capstone project, volunteering, and other commitments but should be able to fit in another course. Although a rescinded acceptance is worrisome (a lot could happen between now and matriculation), I want to feel more confident in approaching medical school and soften the rough transition from college to med school.
Thank you all for reading my novel and any advice that you may give.
