I just started college last monday as a premed...went to the classes...waited on line at the bookstore for the books...but just realized that a 3 day weekend went by without me opening one. So i have this pile of 19 credits worth of science, math, and all kinds of genres worth or texts in front of me...staring at me. Does anyone know of therapeutic touch or sniffing techniques that i can use to extract all of the information from them that i need for classes this week? If not im probably doomed to never attend med school.🙄

Hi mh,

Here's what I (& probably most ppl) do:

Briefly, the only thing I study is what's included in the class notes, nothing more. The only time I hit the texts is to reinforce concepts that may have been confusing in the lecture notes; that's it. No one has time to do all the reading assignments, so don't bother and don't worry about 'em. This method has worked great for me and is a definite time saver 😎 😎 😎

UNLESS you have a prof. that "expects" you to read the book on your own and DOES test out of it even if HE hasn't covered it

Just take it slow, and keep on top of it. Oh, and keep a positive attitude. The more work that piles up, the more stressed out you're going to get and the worse you're going to feel. You may have to make some sacrifices, but I think you'll find it worthwhile to read the book. At least I did. Just continue to go over your notes and keep up with the text. Definitely the hardest part is finding a rhythm. Once you get it, you're golden.

Sounds like you qualify as a member of the Under M1 Club. Look for our thread, we discuss issues pertaining to those pre-meds who have not yet applied and are still working on their pre-reqs. Check us out!!

Mistake #1......19 credits is too much for the first semester of your freshmen year. You can do it, but you will have to work your a$$ off!! This kind of a load really doesn't allow you to enjoy college, or start into EC programs or opportunities(e.g., shadowing, etc). Try it out, but if your in over your head, drop down to a more normal load (like 15 hours). In the end, adcoms usually don't care about your load, as long as it is at least full time.

Good luck!
