Hi Im new to this form, and semi-new to school. I was studying for Sonography and decided that I could do better than that (and also had some changes which will allow me to stay in school longer!)

So I transfered colleges and this one is a little harder, the work load; reading and studying is more. The one I was at before was a part of a university but it was more a technical school, they offered a lot of two year degrees.

Before I may have had to study one hour a day, if that and I made all As, other than Anatomy, I studied for a few hours everyday and did get..

anyways, Im a non-traditional student I am a young mother (22) of two, 4 year old twins. I am looking for a part time job and any good tips on how to survie school..

Anyone have a good idea for a part time job? lot of places want full time..
I have always waitressed at bars, but that gets really old, and pretty much only good on the weekends..

How many hours does everyone usually study? I am aiming for 3-4 hours a day on a full work load 🙂 I think that is pretty good.. anyways thanks efveryone

Figure out how much you can handle and what schedule works for you. Only you can decide if you can handle school and work and family at the same time.

As for the part-time job, what about working as a pharm tech?

Welcome! I like your enthusiasm. Pretty soon you'll be making fun of everybody's grammar and spelling and whining about the pharmacy shortage, but now you're eager and full of life!

Waitressing might be your best option for getting through school. Jobs like that offer good hours and pay that will enable you to still go to class.

I can't imagine life with twins. I have one 2-year-old, and that's plenty for me to handle. Are you a single mom? Single moms are my heroes.

For surviving school, try to find someone at your college who has been through most of the classes you have. They probably have an office like student support or academic support or something that can help you learn how to learn efficiently. You should be able to develop the tools you need to study smarter, not harder, and that's the key, especially as you move through upper division sciences and into pharmacy school. This looks different for everybody, so without knowing you I can't really point you in the right direction, but always evaluate the effectiveness of your study technique. Are you spending hours every day and still pulling in average grades? Try to figure out why. On the other hand, if you find that you do particularly well on an exam, think about what you did that worked so well.

I hope that helps. Good luck!

I always recommend being a security guard as a potential job for students. When I was in college the first time, I did this and was able to study on the job. It was great.

School with kids is tough - and I have a husband to help. I have found that one hour studying out of the house equals three at home with kids - you are constantly interrupted. Having two kids the same age probably helps as I am guessing that they entertain each other a fair amount.

Welcome, and good luck!

Thanks everyone for the support.. Grammer on the computer is not my thing lol.. when its not nessasary to double check I dont lol.. I am the WORST at spelling lol..

I am a single mom, but I do have a wonderful boyfriend 🙂

My ex is the worst.. he forced me to sign papers that I have the kids for a week and then he has them for a week -- so he wouldnt have to pay child support, if he ever decided to work.. (all that is another story lol) but I still have to take my son to speech therapy and doctors when its their dads week bc he is incapable to do anything for his kids..

My boyfriend is the best, he helps out with the house and the kids love him to death.. I am really luck to have him!

ya I have learned its really hard to study with the kids around, especial because I want to play with them all the time, I don't have them everyday bc they go to their dads every other week like I said before...

I have found it best to study at the library or on my porch..
I have so questions yall might be able to help me with, especial like some help from other moms..

Ok, I live about 100 miles away from houston, and I want to go to U of H. Its the closest pharmD program here... I talked to them and I will need some extra money for living expenses, so I was thinking about a private loan, but I dont know if I would need a co-signer.. My credit, is fair to bad (cause I only have one thing, my car)
Has anyone got a private loan for grad school without a co-signer?

Im worried I wont be able to afford school, do you guys know any scholarships that are ligitament?
