Is it true that the format of the NBEO's are changing this year or next? This would make previous school passing rates slightly less reliable to see what they would get with these new formats. This is just information i got from a representative from Pacific. What do you guys think

I spoke to several schools and yes, it's true that NBEO boards are changing for next year making past NBEO pass rates not so reliable indicators. How much change? I am not sure 🙁

I asked in my interview with one of the schools what the changes were going to be, I was told that it was going to be less of a material based and more practical based. So instead of asking what which category a drug falls into, it will be more like, a patient has these symptoms, what type of drug would you prescribe?

Every school I interviewed with told me that they didn't feel that the change was going to effect their results..... but I guess we shall see! I think the new exam is going to be given this year for the first time.

Yea, it's going to be more clinical than "memorize and regurgitate" for part I of the boards. I was also told it will be given at the beginning of 3rd year instead of the end of 2nd year, from what I understood.

What was the reason for this change? Besides the obvious.

Reliable indicators of what?

Part I is taken spring of third year. I think before it was being taken the summer after third year. (correct me someone if I'm wrong!)

Reliable indicators of what?

Reliable indicators of how future students will perform on the new boards.

Oops...I just realized that mrfunnyman already answered =).
