So I just got my TBR books and I noticed that while all other books have about 12-15 practice passages at the end of each section, the physics books (copyrighted 2012) are organized differently.

At the end of each section in the two physics books, there are only 3 practice passages along with a 52-question PS practice exam. There are, like any normal PS section, 7 practice passages with some discretes interspersed.

My question is: How can I adjust SN2ed's study schedule so that this is accounted for?

Should I still take every 3rd passage and pretend that there are just 10 passages altogether instead of 3 passages and 1 PS section?

Thanks!

Sounds like Mr. Sn2ed needs to update his master plan......😉

I don't know. Doesn't sound like anything's really changed. It's still every 3rd passage or discrete. What I have listed in the schedule remains valid:

Day 1: BR Physics Chapter #1 + Every third practice passage of the corresponding practice passages for this chapter (i.e. go through 1, 4, 7, 10 for first 1/3 and 2, 5, 8 for the second 1/3 on Day 8). 1/3 of corresponding practice passages = 1/3 from now on. Also, complete every 1/3 of the discretes each time you work through 1/3 of the passages. In other words, when you take practice passages #1, 4, 7, 10, take discrete # 1, 4, 7, 10, 13, 16, etc. If you have an older version that does NOT have discretes, don't worry about it. For the questions in the chapter reading itself, work through them as you read the chapter.

True, but a Version 2.0 would get massive attention. You should give a sneak peak, and let people wait for a month or so. 👍

I have a question about doing every third passage. How come in the Sn2ed program you want us to do every 1/3 passage? Like 1, 4,7, 10?

If there are say 10 passages, couldnt we just split them up into thirds, like for the first 1/3 = 1,2,3,4? Then 5,6,7 for the 2/3 and then 8, 9, 10 for the last. Just wondering if there was a specific way it was supposed to be done.

Also, the TBR for the chemistry books talk about doing phases, is that different from how Sn2ed attacks doing the passages?

Unfortunately, I doubt that will happen due to medical school. Plus, I don't see much of a reason to do a massive update outside of cleaning up the thread which I'll do later. I am planning on deleting all of the posts that aren't related the schedule to make it easier for people to read through. I'll probably also update the FAQ after I see which questions come up most.

I know one poster said I should specifically map out every detail for every day, but I don't think that's necessary and would clutter up the post (probably add 5-6 lines for every day entry which is excessive).

I'm not sure if BR's Phases has changed since the last time I saw it, but the original intention between choosing 1,4,7,10 over 1,2,3,4 was so that you see a topic multiple times. The schedule has lots of content repetition in place to help reinforce a topic at multiple points.

So instead of taking all of one topic's passages on a day, you see a passage for the topic the day you read the chapter, about a week after you read the chapter, and then later on in the last month. This way you actually apply the topic you learned continuously which will hopefully help you remember it.

Yeah, I used your schedule last summer and dividing the passages up like that really helped me master the science topics. Thanks a lot for all of your time working on that, SN2ed.

Regarding the new TBR Physics book, however, I also used it in my preparations and have to say that doing every third passage probably isn't the best. This is because of the way the passages are arranged. There is a short 3 passage test and a longer 7 passage exam. The problem is that the first passage in each exam tends to emphasize the same topic (and the second/third in each, sometimes). If you do every third, then you end up doubling up on some of the same topics. I ended up just going through and dividing up the passages beforehand so that I got a little bit of each topic divided into three separate days. To be clear, this is only for Physics due to how there are two separate tests now at the end of each chapter.

I guess it might be worth noting in the schedule post, but it is also something most students should figure out when they start studying! Thanks for the great schedule SN2ed, I thought it was extremely clear when I used it to prepare for my MCAT in August. And it really paid off!

Also, if one intends to self-study for the exam for 3 months, but needs the schedule spoon fed to them, then they're probably going to have some issues along the way.

Thanks, by the way, for putting together that outline.
