new recommendation letters while reapplying

I applied for 2008 cycle and didn't get accepted. I had submitted a committee letter that consisted of 7 LORs. I graduated last year and ever since I've been working in a diagnostic lab, very learning sciency environment. I haven't been able to get anything else done from Aug of 2007 till Feb 2008 (when I had rec'd my rejection from the only school I had interiewed with out of 5 that I had applied to).

I talked to my advisor about the LORs and she asked me to get new ones, but the only new one I could think of would be from my boss. What should I do??? Do I need to get 2 more new ones from the same prof I had asked to earlier? I haven't shadowed any dentists ever since last year and right now I am studying for DAT so I can retake it in May, so I can't get any from any dentists. Please help!!!

Next time apply to more schools. 10 schools is the norm. You shortchanged yourself by applying to only 5. Ask the same recommender s to give you new LORs, there is nothing wrong with that. So what you should do is write a new personal statement, get new LOR from the same people or/and get them from your boss, and apply to more than 5 schools(really this is a very small number that you applied).

I didn't get in last year (07), and like you, I didn't shadow a new dentist before applying again this year. So while applying for 08's cycle, I contacted my school and they still had all my letters on file. So I got a new one from a teacher just to show that I am still doing well in my classes and substituted that for an old one and sent three of the same LORs from last year. It seemed to work. I got in to 3 schools. So, I would just send the same letter from the dentist you shadowed if you don't have a new one.
