in order to register early for next semester, i am required to give a planned out schedule, here is what im planning to take next semester, tell me what you guys think of this set up........

1. Microbiology
2. Biology I
3. Organic Chemistry I
4. Anatomy
5. World History I
6. Political Science

Have anyone had a similar schedule to this before? If so tell me ur experience, my world history and poli sci is only once a week........

wow.. were you able to fit all the labs into your schedule?
I was told never to take more than 2 lab courses together.... because 2 courses w/ labs = 4 courses already... but depends on your school, how much work they give you, and how smart you are in chem and bio!

Any how,

Good luck!

Here's how my classes will look like in details.....

Organic Chemistry I w/Lab TTh 5PM to 6:20PM
Lab TTh 6:30PM to 9:30PM

Anatomy MW 7:30AM to 9AM
Lab W 9:20 to 12:30PM

Biology I TTh 8:00AM to 9:30AM
Lab 9:30 to 12:30PM

Microbiology MW 5:00PM to 9:30PM

World Civilization I Friday 7AM to 10AM

Political Science Friday 11AM to 2AM

So basically my classes are pretty evenly spread out from MOnday thru Friday.........

wow thats a lot of classes??? there's only 24 hours in a day??

ummmm. If you are used to stressing out and never getting any sleep, then go for it. That's a crazy looking schedule considering the workload. I used to always take 2 "hard science courses," 1 course for my major, and 1 "easy/fun" G.E. course like art history.

Taking 4 hardcore science courses (especially anatomy and o-chem = memorization and studying) is crazy. But if you can handle it and pull off all those A's, I'm sure the Adcomm will be impressed.

But that doesn't leave much room for pharmacy experience, service work, extra-cirr activities either.

Then again, I used to be in a qtr system and you seem like a semester type of person.

im in the semester system so it is spans out over a longer period of time, if im in the quarter system, i would probably go nuts trying to figure out what is what and for what class......=)

From your own experience, what extra cirr activies did you do......right now,, im in Phi Theta Kappa and Alpha Gamma Signma honors society, the Science club, the environmental club, the future pharmacists of america club, and the honors program........currently im trying to get certified to be a pharm tech, only working as a cashier right now..........

you would probably need to do some volunteering at a pharmacy/work in a pharmacy/ or shadow a pharmacist to have some views of 'what a pharmacist's job looks like' because that's probably something you'll be asked on the interview. Just know how a pharmacist works... etc.....

I had a friend taking Anatomy and physiology along with organic chemistry and other courses, he didn't do too bad, so I think it just depends how you study.

I took A&P during the summer and it killed me... but I took A&P II during the semester and i was fine.... organic chemistry , especially I is not that bad if you understand chemistry. But then, if you still need help balancing an equation and can't tell the difference between atom + electrons.. then I'd say don't take it with A&P, but then again, that's your choice to make.

Nowaday, Im very good with time management, currently Im taking 23 semester units with magnetism and electricity (physics for engineers part II), human physiology, chem II as my main core classes. I want to ease myself into this school year and get myself acquainted to taking the overloaded schedule before i go much more rigorous next semester........

Most schools require your pre reqs be done the spring semester before you enter....and you still haven't taken O Chem II

Uuummm, PharmCAS opens up on June 1. So, if you are going to apply for fall of 2008, the application would open up on June 1 2007

Wow, you're in alot of clubs. I'm in Sam's Club

If all of these classes are pending for this upcoming Spring semester, I would say that your chances for 2007 are highly unlikely. Although there may be a few exceptions, most schools will not even consider your application if you have not completed at least one Organic Chem class, and this will not be completed until May. Schools may have a few seats left open for then, but don't hold your breath. Plus, you would still have a rigorous Summer semester to look forward to, and schools would also weigh in on this.

I joined them too... The best part is the free samples EVERY TIME I GO!!!! on another note - does everyone forget the classx3 approach? For every one hour you are in class, you normally need to spend at least 3 hours on the class outside of it. That normally isnt straight forward, but I think it is for classes like Organic and Physics. The memorization required for Bio, microbio, and A&P is extensive, and simply requires time. Couple that with the practice you need to put forth to be ready for Organic Chem - and I would say its a bad idea. Not that its impossible, just not very advisable. hmm... maybe if you are at a community college its more doable. I did Organic I and both A&P's in the same semester... at CC it wasnt bad, but I wouldnt do that here at UF.

Just my .02

Well even if someone won't complete org chem I until May, if they do really well on that section on the PCAT can't that kind of show the admission committee that the person is capable of doing really well in the actual class?

Also, some schools do say that you must finish all of your pre reqs by the end of Spring, but a lot say that you can take whatever classes are left over during the summer, just as long as you are finished with everything before classes begin.

LOL....😀 .........ohhh yeah i forgot to add, im also in the Costco Club, i get free food samples every time i stop by the club......haha 😀

how was everyone's experience in taking molecular biology and biochemistry?

I see that you're taking 4 sciences and 2 electives...If you're taking all 4 of those sciences along with their labs then its going to be pretty tough. Because from experience, THE LABS REQUIRE MORE TIME THAN THE ACTUAL LECTURE CLASS AND YOU ONLY GET 1 CREDIT FOR IT!!! Which pisses me off. But if you're use to studying hard and working your ass off then hey GET EM DONE.

I remember taking Physics II, BIO II, and O-Chem II along with all 3 labs. On top of that I also took 2 electives (World Religions and Music: Elvis). Let's just say that semester consisted of lots of Redbull and me being grouchy 5 out of 7 days of the week. But hey, I worked hard and got straight A's along with 2 A+'s (sorry had to brag). I didn't work that semester though...so maybe you might want to concentrate on your classes for that semester and not work. And if you're going to take all those sciences with the labs then try to make as many friends as possible with the ppl in your classes. Those people will become your comrades and you guys will tackle the tests together and help each other with your lab reports. Atleast thats what we did. But anyway, good luck with your classes and I hope everything works out for ya.
