No access to pubmed anymore (My school dropped our access like a bad habit) - but this is the summary.

New England Journal of Medicine

I've got no money for the stock market - licensing pretty much ate all of my extra financial aid monies. Thankfully, my personal federal bailout money is coming soon!!!

Lucky for you there's not a hot stock for today! :meanie: It'll be an idle day.

I thought insider trading was illegal.

Yet people do it everyday. Do you really expect people in the know not to act on it?

We sold our shares when it ran up to $37 in 2004. Many of us in R&D knew torcetrapib toxicities data earlier on, yet the big cheeses still wanted to try their luck in the clinical trials. Of course it failed.

There were internal documents and projections of how the company will fare. One chart that showed a roughly flat line around 2011 if it replace lipitor and another line that showe a huge dip if it didn't. :meanie:

People can do whatever they want legal or not.

Well, you had to have gotten in on PFE in a small window between 2002 to 2003 during intermittent spikes and dips when the stock was hovering $30..to have made money unless you got stock options...then you didn't really make money rather prevented a larger loss if timed correctly. Yet, I hardly think the major fluctuation of PFE stock value was due to torcetrapib alone.

It's is like anti-jaywalking law, its kinda silly and unenforceable so the reality is like the law doesn't exist.

I got in cheap at 26 when Pfizer announced the purchase of Pharmacia. A lot of people didn't like the merger and that dip was largely emotionally driven. So I moved about 20% of my 401(k) into it which I wish was a more princely sum. Anyway, sold when it ran up to $37 in 2004 and colleagues were whispering bad juju about the would be lipitor replacement. Without that drug, PFE has no where to go but down. I always got a kick out of all the wallstreet folks that said now PFE is a good value almost every year since that. Unless you have something that can plug a $12 billion hole, you are not going to change the direction its headed until the thing runs its course.
