So I'm going to be up in NYC for four days this weekend, celebrating my wife's birthday. I'll be staying at the Times Square Renaissance, and only have planned one evening (Lion King and then Tavern on the Green). Other thing I am going to do is do the whole carriage ride through Central Park one evening.

So, I need some other places to go. I'm a huge sushi fan and wouldn't mind trying some of the NY sushi (as long as its affordable, meaning $10 a roll or less). Also, I'd like to try the best pizza in NYC.

Any hints from you guys? Any other things we need to hit while we're up there?

If there were an In-N-Out there, I'd hit that but that's in June.

Thanks.

New York is awesome, but keep in mind it's freezing in January and a carriage ride will most likely be torture given the weather.

A day tour just walking Times Square or the East Village/Greenwich Village/Chinatown can be a lot of fun. If you go downtown, the Second Avenue Deli is a great place for lunch.

There's a bunch of off-beat things to do, too. If you are ready to walk, you can see the whole world. Too bad it's next weekend - I had this whole weekend off. I would have flown up and showed you and the missus what's up!

sorry bro, there's no In and Out in NYC. But there's a joint called "Blue 9" that has burgers comparable (some say better) than In and Out.

Check out Samba Sushi, its in the village, a great place to eat sushi and take in the NYC decor.

Best pizza? I would choose Lombardi's pizza in Little Italy. Always rated either number one or two in the city for best pizza. And its relatively cheap.

have a great vacation and bring a heavy coat.

All pizza in New york is good. I can't seem to find the difference. Sushi samba is damn good-- I agree with mounte bank. But, you will pay up the as* for a roll. THe bill for 2 will be around 70 bucks. Try peter luger's its got the best steak in the world, IMHO.

For a reasonable night out go to Crispo on w. 14th.

For a great lunch go to New Green Bo on Bayard and order the crab and pork soup dumplings.

Moustache in the village is good.

Best Pizza in NYC? very easy. I'll PM you.

There is also some great, reasonably priced sushi. I like momo sushi. they have great specials as well..

IF it's not too late to get tickets Avenue Q was the most fun I have ever had at a show. It was so funny and wonderful.

sorry, Lombardi's for pizza. Only place I would recommend for pizza.

I have been to moustache. a big disappointment. I would rather go to chumbleys (a great historical site and great burgerws and beer.) If you like middle eastern, I say go to the east village and go to cafe mogador

Ah, I knew I could count on my SDN colleagues for guidance! Much appreciated.

Looked up Samba Sushi, and their website (http://www.sushisamba.com/ )

THere are two in NYC: One Samba Sushi 7 on 7th Ave South and Sushi Samba Park on Park Avenue South. Which one is closer to the Times Square Renaissance?

Mmmm, sushi!
Q

Your going to be very close to momo sushi, which is very good, not fancy, and wihtout a doubt, some of the freshest basic sushi I have eaten.

Its in midtown (52nd). I would avoid mosto f the restraunts around time square. :)

Mmmmmm... Lombardi's... *drool*. I miss that place - used to live a block away...

RubyFoo's also has a great selection of sushi really reasonable as well as a lot of other great stuff. I agree that it's also a good idea to stay away from Times Square. I'd recommend Ruth's Chris steakhouse (51st and 7th I think). Gotham Comedy Club is a great cold weather activity that's easy on the wallet too.

i just went to new york in mid december. night time temp was in 20s. i did the carraige ride in central park after dinner at tavern on the green. you can pick up a carraige right outside the restaurant. it was pretty cold during the ride, but they have blankets for you to cover up with.

Sweet! That's exactly what I'm looking for. i was worried about the temperature but if they have blankets that'll be nice.

Can't wait!

The blankets wreak of horses' A$$....I think they wrap the horses in the same blankets too. It's worth it though, all the girls love it! Bring a camera for a nice memory! Have fun in NY!
