I stayed at the Herald Square Hotel and I paid $89 a night for a clean closet 😀. But yeah it was a pretty good hotel. Its about a 15 to 20 minute walk to the school, close to Times Square, Macys, etc..... http://www.heraldsquarehotel.com/
Just make sure that you get there a day in advance to figure out how long it'll take you to get to the school. Good Luck, and don't worry you'll have fun at the interview!

I stayed at the Pod hotel for $160/night. Cozy, chic, modern, fun 😀

It was like 2 miles from NYU. Straight shot.

hey the rooms on the website look pretty spacious for 89 bucks.. that's teh cheapest i've seen so far. or do they just not show the actual "closet" room you are talking about on the website. Did you get your own private bathroom? Heater and hot water ?
Dr. Mejia was totally OK with interviewees changing once they arrive NYUCD (or leave). I mean, a lot of interviewees (myself included ) changed to regular clothes right after the interview and she didnt seem to care one bit.

why did you change anywhere where she would even see you?
I left the school, walked a block and changed in restroom...
it just doesn't make sense to change clothes AT the interview...
Click on the reservation link and select the $89 single shared washroom, and you'll see how small it is 😀. But for an extra 10 bucks you can upgrade to one with a private washroom. But the "closet" has a sink in it so its not too bad. But yeah I enjoyed my stay there and would stay there again. Oh and for $20 or so, you can take the Supershuttle from JFK or any of the other airports i guess, directly to the hotel👍hey the rooms on the website look pretty spacious for 89 bucks.. that's teh cheapest i've seen so far. or do they just not show the actual "closet" room you are talking about on the website. I changed right after the interview as well. I was going to be wandering the city afterwards and had checked out already so I kinda had to change

Because she told us that if we were going to the airport right after, we should change there and that she doesnt mind.

still....
I would of just changed at the airport... I changed at a public restroom a few blocks from campus... It just seems unprofessional to change clothes in the building were you received your interview. It basically implies "okay, I can take off the responsible facade now."
It takes about an hour to get from JFK to the hotel, but hey its 20 vs about 50 - 60 dollars for a Taxi and I don't think its much faster to take a Taxi.how fast do the shuttles take you from the airport to the hotel? I've heard sometimes the shuttle has to pick up multiple people so it can take a couple hours just to get to the airport/hotel.
would you recommend taking a taxi?

She told me to change there. She even showed me the best bathroom to change in that was in the dental building. She was so sweet at the interview.

Is there a specific shuttle service that you used at the airport to get to your hotel?

I took the supershuttle, www.supershuttle.com they'll pretty much take you to any location in Manhattan. From the airport, you don't have to prebook, but on the way back you need to prebook for a pickup at least 24 hours in advance

Take the subway!! Costs seven dollars (including 5 for airtrain) to get to anywhere in Manhattan. I was thinking of using the shuttle bus but the information booth recommend taking the subway. He told me exactly where to getoff to get to my hotel. I got there in about 40 minutes. I did same coming back to airport.
I splitted the taxi with 3 fellow interviewees that were also going to the same airport with me. There was a flat rate of 45 dollars (split between 3) going from NYC to JFK.
