Hey Everybody!

I interviewed at the University of Missouri-Kansas City and they were definitely interesting to me...

*Strong faculty mentoring/Non-malignant attitudes
*Decent hospital facilities at both the county and private hospital
*Low cost of living in a medium-sized city
*No competition with fellows for procedures
*OB and GYN surgery volume to keep residents busy

Did anyone do a sub-internship at UMKC or rotate through their department? I am curious for a real world experience outside of the interview day!

Thanks very much!

I'm at student at UMKC and actually I'm on my ob/gyn rotation right now. I have been very surprised and pleased with the facility and residents here. They are truly very nice and want to teach. I've always heard how miserable ob/gyn residents can be, but they don't seem that way here. They all seem to be happy, have time for family and friends, and there are atleast 3 of them that are pregnant right now. The staff also is fantastic. They are so good with the students and seem to have a good relationship with the residents also. Truman and St. Lukes are good hospitals and you will definitely see a variety of things here. They do some very interesting surgery cases and get some rare pathology. KC is also a good place to live. Like you already mentioned it is a good sized city and price of living is not outragous. If you have any more questions, feel free to ask.
