News from USN and Interviews ...

I am just wondering if anyone has heard any new news from USN. It is almost end of Oct and I know they have been busy with their accreditation process and... So I am guessing their first set of interview could be sometimes late Nov.

So How many people who have multiple pre-Dec Interviews have applied to USN as well and how many will actually plan to accept their interview invites if it is late in Nov?
 
i've been wondering the same thing. i have 7 pre-december intervies, and applied to USN. if i do get an interview, i'll push it back to january or february and cancel it if i get an acceptance.
 
Lets hope we here something from them this week. I am in seriuos need of som good news.
 
Is this going to be the Week for USN ??

They said they planing their first set of Interviews for Nov 15.
 
They made so many promises which they broke... i wouldn't be surprised if they break this one too...

I just think at this point of time, it makes more sense to them to wait till after Dec 01 and the give their first set of interviews since many people will know by then if they are in or not and ...
 
So less than a weeks notice for these advertised Nov 15 interviews. I have tried to be understanding since this school is new but to be honest I don't think it is very considerate to give an applicant less than a weeks notice to come interview. Is that something that is commonly done at other schools? All my interviews so far have been a month in advance.

I don't either. Its possible the 1st interviews or those with little notice are given to applicants in utah. For easier travel.

anyhow it says Week of 11/15. They could call you today and for Friday 11/19 or even saturday and still won't be breaking promises.

With most schools you at least get a tour. i wonder what their plan will be? Powerpoint slides with artist conceptions? Or they walk you up to the building and point, "that window is the..."
 
i fall in the other camp of the above two posters.

i just want an acceptance from a school that can hook me up with a license. if they dont have their ****e together, and its my only acceptance, well so be it.

So I realize USN still has a few days to make good on the interviews that are "supposed" to start next week, but has anyone heard of a new dental school fall behind like this? I hope they can start interviews soon, and I would love the opportunity to attend one, but it's getting a little late in the timeline they laid out.
 
USN will have no problem filling their class once they start interviewing. They have over 1000 applicants to choose from. Even if they start interviewing after Dec. 1st, they still have ~7 months to fill their inaugural class. I think this is good news for people with lower stats, assuming that people with higher stats that get in on Dec. 1 turns down USN's interview invites.
 
above poster hits it right on the head. this is a boon for ppl not getting in the first round. i myself with a fair amoutn of interviews am still hoping to hear from USN. Lets send some good vibes their way !

Just called Amanda. She said that interview invites will go out next week for interview dates starting December 1st.
 
Of course they are not keeping their word AGAIN! Next word will be they will start interviewing in January. Initially it was end of October, then November 15, now December 1st.

You can just say NO to them and reject their Interview Invitation when they send you if this process is bothering you this much !!

I am sure there 999 other applicants just like myself who love to get an interview from them even if it is in Feb and understand that starting a brand new school has ton of challenages and does not always go as it is planned.

Wow PreD, settle down. I want an interview there as well so make it 1000 again. Its just hard when they keep getting my hopes and others hopes up and then keep changing. This is just like any other school, and I know that starting a new school must not be easy. No need to get all defensive, you have no clue who I am or my intentions. So chill out, and relax I wish you the best as I do to all others. There is no need to go crazy on someone that you don't even know.

I am relaxed and settled down and also wish you and all best of luck and ... However, read your original post and be the judge yourself.

If you really understand the challanges that they are facing right now, then you would not nag about them pushing their plans few weeks back.

The wait is hard but atleast they send out news letters and ... and keep the applicants informed unlike many other private schools that take your money and not even say anything for months about your application or ...

As an applicant, I am very happy with the way USN has so far handled the admission procedure. They answer the phones all the way, they are very helpful when you call them and they kept me updated on every single thing so far.
 
i agree with PreD. USN has handled their first year fantastically.

Its not about withdrawing... Its about professionalism. Dental school is supposed to teach you professionalism ie. make you dress up or wear scrubs or if you dont attend class on time the doors will lock etc..

You talk about help that they provide you over the phone. all they probably told you is your application is done? any other news than that?....

Exactly, had they originally said interviews would start in March, fine. But to say "We have set our first interview dates for the week of November 15th" (this comes from the smile lines newsletter), and then not follow through is not cool. It's not about when the interviews take place, it's about making a promise and then not following through. Although I could be proven wrong if they call some people today, but I don't see that happening.

I understand that people are stressed and frustrated at the entire problem, but you all are over reacting. Obviously they are trying to get all of their stuff together for the first batch of interviews. I applaud that they are doing this, I'd much rather go interview at a school that has something to show for making you wait. And even if interviews started on 11/15, what guarantee do you have that you will be in that first batch. Have some patience people, and enjoy the weekend.
 
Since they have this whole delay thing going on, would it be ok to apply this late?

they claim that they have 1000+ apps for 50 spots.

SO its your call. I say go for it, we are this far into the game whats another 120 gonna do. Bet on it brotha.
 
50-60 thats what the lady told me. Then the following year they are going to raise it to 100+ <125.
 
On the plus side, snowbird opened today, for those that receive an interview it's the perfect opportunity to get a day or two of skiing in.
 
Any idea on what the tuition is going to be at the school? I couldn't find it on their website.
 
Anyone hear anything yet? Or called Amanda this week?

It is not finilized yet however, Amanda said that it will be probably 58 for tution + 12 for fees for the fist year so around $70 which is on par with other private schools.
 
Just received a phone call from Dr. Bill Harman, interview at USN on December 10th!! Yeah baby!!!!!

I just received my call from Dr. Sandoval yesterday also about interviewing on the same day. The call came while I was at work and caught me completely off guard. I'm excited to say the least!
