This is an incredibly obvious statement, but it has been coming to mind at random times during the past few weeks and makes me extremely happy. So, for my fellow members of the Class of 2010 who've had many crappy, often menial, jobs over the years:

The next (full-time non-summer) job we will have will be that of a doctor.

Just think about and let it sink in. And then dance around and be happy. 😀

amazing feeling, no? i'm hoping to get off the usc waitlist and join you guys...on the path to that awesome new career...

I was thinking that just today, as I was filing a huge stack of papers in date order (sadly, the most intellectually stimulating thing I did all day). No more crappy cubicle jobs! 👍

Congrats to all, I hope to maybe someday be in your shoes (I'm crazy enough to be taking Gen Chem 103 IN THE SUMMER and work at the same time - even my professor says we're going through the material too fast, and I haven't had this stuff in over 10 years!!)

Although, I did want to make one comment....crappy menial jobs? Based on the thread of jobs/salaries that people are giving up, I'm pretty sure they're not menial. They're all making more money that I will EVER make with the dang MA degree I have (In HR, yup, I know)

Good luck, etf! :luck: I hope to see you at USC in August.

Dr.Wanahbe: Maybe it's just me, then, but I've had some pretty bad jobs and couldn't be happier about leaving them behind me. Of course, the highest salary I've ever received is $40k/year, so I doubt I'm part of the group you're mentioning.

Yeah, same here. And while I like my current job, Health Unit Coordinator is NOT what I want to do forever! Most I've ever made was 47K, in a town I hated living in....it wasn't even a city, located in the middle of nowhere!

I hear you. I didn't post in that thread for fear of intimidating people with my $20K salary. I guess that's what I get for getting an art degree.

Crappy menial job? I'm in it right now! I took a part time summer job to pass the time and earn a couple of extra bucks at a local bookstore. I thought it would be fun and a way to meet people and get free books but they didn't tell me I'd be cleaning and I didn't realize the cashier job I did back in high school which seemed so exciting now seems kind of boring. Ah, and I gave up a $50k/yr job for this. All well. I've never thought about it, but yeah, the next 'real' job I will have (as long as I pass everything and dont' get kicked out) will be with an MD behind my name and a bunch of sick patients in front of me. Sounds great. 🙂

Until you realize you get crap on just like everyone else. Patients can be mean.

Anyone leaving a job they like and kind of regret you'll never do some of these things again?
