Retaker here. Just purchased NS 1-6 a couple weeks ago and was wondering if anyone's taken the revised exams 1-6 and how they've done in comparison to the AAMC scored. Also, anyone hear anything about NS 7-10? Was considering buying them, but I heard they might be a little shoddy.

i've taken NS 1-4 and the AAMC unscored FL. i averaged about 508 (lowest score = 507 and highest = 509) on NS 1-4. on the AAMC unscored FL i scored 73% CP, 70% CARS, 80% BB, 85% PS. i havent taken the AAMC scored test yet though. i'd also like to know how people have scored on that compared to NS. how have you been doing on NS? have you taken the unscored test yet?

I'm a re-taker from last august. Before I took the real thing I scored 86% C/P, 64% Cars, 83% B/B, and 85% P/S on the sample test, but got a 508 on the real thing 130/124/128/126.

I took NS 1 two weeks ago and got a 511, and a 507 on NS 2 this week, so I'm curious how the NS exams stack up against the scored exam.

Last year, I was getting ~ 509-12 on my last 2 NS Fl (there were only 5). I only had the AAMC sample test but, to the best of my recollection, i scored 80%+ on all 4 sections of the sample test. I ended up with the following on my actual mcat: 516 Chem: 129 CARS: 129 Bio: 130 Psych: 128

AAMC sample test, taken after all my non-aamc exams. 82.7% total 79% chem 83% cars 89% bio 80% psych

my nextstep scores were

FL1 494/124/125/123/122
FL2 498/125/125/125/123
FL3 505/126/126/128/125
FL4 509/128/127/128/126
FL5 512/127/128/129/128

with Fl5 being my last non-aamc exam and the most accurate. i ended up donig 4 pontis better, which is normal for most non-aaamc tests from what ive seen on here. Nextstep has revised their exams, and everyone has adjusted their scales to reflect the released AAMC scored exam better, so this years nextstep Fl 1-10 I assume would be even better at predicting your score. I would still expect you to do 1-3 total points better on the real thing as most companies make their exams a bit tougher than the real thing, which is a good idea.

your later exams and the 2 AAMC exams wil be your most predictave. sicne you got 2 of them now take one a few weeks out and then the scored closest to you test date. that way you'll have the best idea of your chances, even up to 1 month out.

wait actually, I think they updated your scores too, so if you still have access to it, you can tell if they've changed. I took the diagnostic last summer and got a 508 but now it's a 509. Either way, thanks for the input!

nah, my access was only for 6 months. i got those numbers from my score reprot and the thread i posted in last summer.

can anyone make a correlation graph using this data?

would be helpful to have one for all the major companies, EK, TPR, NS, Kaplan.

Do you by chance have the number of questions you got correct for each section for those NS tests? That would be easier to compare to since they've updated their scoring scale.

nope, my access expired long time ago. and the raw score is not as important as the scaled score.

Congrats on your mcat score! How long before the actual exam did you do the NS tests? I took NS 1 yesterday and got a 501 (125/123/126/127) and my actual tests is May 6th so I'm debating whether or not to reschedule (or taken another NS test and then decide)

i took Ns 1-5 across a 2.5 mont span, with Fl 5 being about 2 weeks out from my exam date.

I am no expert but i'd say if your at a 501 on any exams 3 weeks from your real exam, and you are looking for a 510+, you might need to resecheule. see how you do on the AAMC sample test, use the scoring scale from their scored test, the AAMC says they should be roughly similar.

The 501 was 5 weeks before my test date (5/20) I took the aamc unscored this week and got CP: 63%, cars: 57%, B/b: 66%, p/s: 80% do you know how I can access the scoring scale to convert these numbers?

Were your NS exams reflective of your actual score? I'm shooting for AT LEAST a 507 (but I really want a 510) and my exam is 2 weeks out.. Trying to get a feel for if I can expect any improvement on the actual thing.

I'm taking EK3 tomorrow and EK4 Friday.. Then the AAMC unscored next week sometime. Maybe the AAMC scored again to boost my confidence at some point next week too. idk!

EK1: 59%/68%/73%/66% 506 (formula in link)
EK2: 64%/58%/68%/81% 506.5 (formula in link)
NS1: 127/124/127/127 505
NS2: 126/125/128/126 505
NS3: 126/125/128/127 506
NS4: 126/125/128/126 505

I had 20 questions left at the 15 minutes left mark for NS3 and NS4 so that hurt my score both times.. But those were the only two exams I ran out of time on for C/P.. it was odd. Did anybody find the passages MUCH longer in the C/P section than other sections? I always finish the other 3 on time so idk what's up with NS3 and NS4.

The C/P sections on the NS FLs are all very long compared to the sample and scored FL. However, on my actual MCAT the C/P section was actually just as long, it felt just like a NS exam, and my test had a ton of calculations with unit manipulations. You need to find a way to finish that C/P on time.

In order of taking them...

NS1: 503 (126/124/125/128)
NS2: 507 (127/128/126/126)
AAMC unscored: 507 (estimated 126/127/126/128)
NS3: 501 (wtf CARS?) (125/123/126/127)

Taking NS4 on Sunday so we will see. I felt like the CARS on the NS 3 was absolutely ridiculous, same with C/P. Seemed nothing like the AAMC at all. Oh well. I trust my AAMC more than anything, although I am a bit worried about my CARS on AAMC because I got 74% but it seems like everyone gets 80%+ which would convert to a really sensitive scale.

That NS3 score was probably a fluke, your other ones are looking nice

And I feel you on that unscored AAMC. I'm worried about taking it next week because like you said everyone destroys that section and I celebrate when I break 70% lol.

I bought their CARS book w/ 100+ passages and couldn't score anything higher than a 126 tbh. Some of their passages are so damn hard to read

NS3 cars was really tough. I had a 127 on NS1 and NS2, dropped to a 125 for NS3 and felt that the passages were noticeably more challenging. NS4 CARS is slightly easier, but still difficult.

The sample FL CARS score isn't a very good measure of how you will do. A lot of people scored 85%+ on the sample CARS but had 124s on the scored FL and 124s on their real mcat. Scored FL CARS is a much more similar to the real thing.

yeah, thats why i loved the nextstep CARS stuff. it was much tougher than the average AAMC stuff, which is what I needed. the sample test and the CARS Q packs can be ridic easy alot of the time. the aamc purposely makes it seem easier than it was.

my real test was much closer to nextstep and ek CARS than the sample test and most Q pack passages.

NS4: 508 (128/126/126/128)
NS3: 509 (127/125/128/129)
NS2: 510 (128/126/128/128)

AAMC Scored: 514 (128/126/131/129)

The NS exams were definitely harder than the AAMC exams. I thought the CARS sections were equally difficult, but that could just be because I'm a dumba$$ when it comes to CARS. I thought that the AAMC scored exam matched the difficulty of actual MCAT pretty well. The only reason that some parts of the MCAT and the AAMC felt deceitfully easy was because the NS and EK exams I took were so much harder.
