Hi guys
As the title says I failed to match after securing 9 IV's in the HemOnc match for 26-27. My profile is below.
S1: 25x/S2: 26x/S3: 24x
Visa-requiring IMG
Currently at Uni-affiliated program
Research: 4-5 manuscripts, none first author. Multiple first author posters. Roughly counting, 10-12 ASCO/ASCO subchapters, 4-6 ASH, 1 NCCN. Total items 45-50?ish including some non-Hemeonc projects.
Leadership positions (hospital committee's) during residency
No chief year
1 Heme Onc away
No home program
Did decently well during my residency, good ITE %ile, I think my LOR's would've been at least decent, doubt they would've been negative
I applied to 130 programs the first go around.
Wondering if you guys had any advice for me as I do hope to apply again. Currently considering 1 year H/O adjacent fellowships (BMT/Transfusion/HPM). Chief year is not an option as most don't sponsor visa or are not accredited by ACGME, which is required for my visa (J1) to continue to be sponsored. Can't do Hospitalist (for now) as that is also at least a 3, more likely 4 year commitment.
