I don't know if this contralateral oblique image is used often for intra-articular facet injections. I find it helpful but not necessary.

This is probably one of the only procedures I "cheat" on. I had been doing them the standard way with shallow clo to see joint entry, coming in as you did from way caudal. Now on the rare occasion I do these I just go straight ap, contact 12 on pedicle, quick lateral and inject. Mainly peri-articular/capsule, sometimes intra-artic, but work pretty well. I do this bc the time/ effort involved, amount of soft tissue to traverse, rarity of great arthrogram w classic perfect ia technique and in the end equal results (small n) IMO bw both
