I’ve gotten multiple “we’ve received your application” emails that state they give out invitations to interview around mid-August. It’s still early. Per my mentors, programs that have given out interviews already will give out more.

You mean for fellowship?

I would say, for either residency or fellowship, it really depends on what you want. The rankings are based on metrics like clinical outcomes, nurse staffing, infection control- all of which are important. However, you are looking for a program and environment that will be best for you! Of course, you will not go wrong looking at the best hospitals in a particular specialty but take everything with a grain of salt. (that's what I'm telling myself!)

I've been outright rejected from a couple programs now, so hopefully not? But some programs on FREIDA have listed how many applicants they interviewed last year, i.e Mt Sinai interviewed 25 for 2 spots.
