Do you have a dress code for Physicians/NNPs in the NICU? Is it scrubs? If scrurbs, are they issued by the hospital? I rotated through a large Children's Hospital unit and everyone wore hospital issued scrubs, residents wore one color, fellow/attendings another to distinguish. I volunteered in a community NICU one summer and the docs there wore street clothes (including ties!) but no coats. Just curious how things are out there.

I'm identified by my bright pink scrubs and left diamond earring. 😀

My [current] avatar tells you what I wear. Some NICU's have everyone wear scrubs, some don't. Fortunately, most hospitals have gotten rid of the routine wearing of those #@% gowns that did nothing to prevent infections.

I've noticed a general trend that we older attendings tend to wear a shirt/tie or "business casual" for women and younger ones who are closer to their training years more often wear scrubs. Of course, the most common thing is to wear scrubs when you run out of clean clothes to wear and almost everyone wears scrubs when they are spending the night in the hospital.

Consult services can usually be identified by their white coats. 🙄

Scrubs are usually "borrowed" from the hospital. Really, I plan to bring them back, really, really. Oops, I forgot!
