Hi, I'm waiting for my letters or rec to settle in and looking for PIs I want to email and I was wondering if anyone had any knowledge of how often people get placed in labs outside of Bethesda? I see there are locations in NC and MT but I didn't know if post bacs get placed there occasionally or if that is almost strictly reserved for actual workforce?

I met someone who worked at the MT campus as a post-bacc so it does happen, but as with all of the NIH post-baccs it all comes down to whether there's a PI there who is willing to take you on. If the non-bethesda location is what youre looking for, I'd suggest contacting PIs who work there.
