First a caveat: I'm a high school senior currently deciding between the TCNJ/NJMS 7 year and Hofstra/Northwell 8 year medical program.
Obviously, NJMS is the much more established brand, while Hofstra SOM is sort of regarded as an up-and-comer (if I'm not right, please correct me).
Without a doubt, being in-state, the NJMS program should be a decent amount cheaper for me (150k+ difference for my whole BS/MD education), while also saving a years worth of time and tuition. My parents don't mind paying that extra amount, but I'd feel very guilty choosing a OOS private over my IS school, considering both are ranked in terms of prestige in the same vicinity.
I'm currently 100% committed to medicine, and am almost certainly going to turn down the top undergrads I got into for either of these two programs.
After visiting both, I couldn't really tell whether or not I could definitively choose one over the other.
So here I am, asking you which one I should choose, and whether or not the match list difference (looking to potentially match into ENT or Psych) and UMDNJ's recent financial scandal should factor into my decision.
