On NMRP Charting Outcomes, when it lists "Mean number of abstracts, presentations, and publications" for each specialty, does this # include submitted items or is it only those that are accepted/published?
"Submitted" or "in progress" has almost no value because anyone can "submit" anything. Anything included on ERAS and therefore summarized in charting outcomes is accepted/published.
There is, however, a small percentage of applicants who do include bs publications and there have been studies that looked into this.

On ERAS, all submitted/provisionally accepted/accepted publications are groups together as "Peer Reviewed Journal Articles/Abstracts(Other than Published)". I just was not sure if it would be summarized in Charting Outcomes or if they are excluded from that number.

Charting outcomes is based on self-reported data from applicants to the NRMP (i.e. the charting outcomes team has no direct knowledge of what is in ERAS) so my guess is they are included.
Included. It also includes abstracts and presentations which are generally less work than a submitted paper, and definitely less work than an accepted but not published paper.
