No acceptance...feeling depressed

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
OP, what about you would make you stand out and have the ADCOMS saying "wow, we gotta invite this guy to an interview" and subqentually an acceptance?

You numbers are fine for DO schools, so we are ok on that front. I really doubt you are gonna turn MD heads however, so focus on DO schools.

Keep you spirit up! Plenty of people have to go multiple cycles before getting accepted. Remember, all it takes is one acceptance to be a physcician.

The reason you are where you are is more due just a bad shake of the dice than a reflection on your application. A 25/3.55/3.4 is not shabby. Not a sho-in, but not at all shabby.

This summer, consider retaking the MCAT only if you are pulling 27+ average on several practice tests. Continue volunteering and be ready to submit your application to 20+ DO schools. Without an MCAT above 27, you really have slim odds of MD schools, with the best odds being in your home state.

Good luck, sorry to hear it is going this way for you, certainly a sucky situation.
Thank you for reassuring me that I'm not stupid or unintelligent for my lower stats. I will definitely reapply to many more DO schools. I'm not sure if I should even bother with MD schools because of my MCAT. If I retake it, it'd be the new one so I'm not sure if that'd be a smart choice since the scores will be hard to compare to my old ones...any suggestions on taking the new one?

Thanks for the positivity! I think the amount of volunteering I've done would really stand out...and I'm looking at pursuing a job in the medical field during my break so I think that would be beneficial as well. I really do think I'll apply mostly to DO's this next cycle.

Here's a nifty little GPA tracker that I've been using to calculate my c,s and post bacc GPA's. It also shows trends at the bottom. Simply fill out the course name, the grade achieved, and how many credit hours the class was worth, then check the box if its a science class or prereq, and you're all set. It's been really helpful for me. Also, does anyone know is a Stat class would count as a prereq?

Best!
