I didn't apply to many top-heavy schools, many in fact were deemed "underreach" schools. I'm just curious what my application was lacking.

I'm confused. According to your previous posts, didn't you get into 2 DO schools?

I did get into two DO schools. And I'm glad to attend one of them. It's just that I had my heart set on a pretty competitive specialty, and I am aware of the uphill battle that many DOs face in residency. Numerous interviewers mentioned they liked my Personal Statement, I'm just wondering if the root cause is too few hours of all my ECs.

State of Residence: CT
Interviewed at Uconn
Vermont
UMass

Applied: Quinnipiac, Columbia, Wake Forest, Tulane, Drexel, Sydney Kimmel, Temple, USHU, NYMC, Brown, Dartmouth, Albany, University of Rochester, George Washington

If you decide not to go to a DO school and reapply to MD schools I suggest a broader list. Another 20 hours of shadowing and more clinical and non clinical volunteering hours would help. Here is a suggested school list:
UConn
UMass
Vermont
Quinnipiac
Tufts
Albany
New York Medical College
Hofstra
Einstein
NYU (new school on Long Island)
Seton Hall
Drexel
Temple
Jefferson
Penn State
Virginia Commonwealth
Eastern Virginia
NOVA MD
Miami
Oakland Beaumont
Western Michigan
Cincinnati
Tulane
Medical College Wisconsin
Rosalind Franklin
TCU-UNTHSC (new school)
Kaiser (new school)
California University (new school)

@Goro if you reject a DO offer, do you get blacklisted from future DO schools indefinitely?

P.S If I were you, I would take that DO offer and never look back. At the end of the day, you'll be a physician no matter what the 2 letters on your coat say. What if you get into a MD school and you don't score as high on the STEP or end up enjoying primary care? I really wouldn't take the gamble.

It seems that the MD world is different: turn down an MD offer, and your goose is cooked. Do MD schools know that you've turned down a DO acceptance?

I graduated in three years, did this harm my chances? Should I enroll in a special master's program? My MCAT is only good for one more cycle
