People get in with unusually low GPAs so while it's not impossible I think it is highly unlikely. Since you're aiming for a DO school just retake science classes you did poorly in and you could raise that GPA pretty quickly. You could make that your goal for the next year (while working to save up money for applications, volunteering, and just generally improving your overall application) before applying in 2016.
You must do an SMP. There is no way around it. And you must score very high on the MCAT.
Even more importantly you must re-evaluate yourself and ask why you did so poorly and if you will be making the same mistakes like you have been for the past 4 years.
But it can be done. My graduating GPA from undergrad is <3.0

Chances are close to zero. Retake all F/D/C science coursework first. You should not be thinking about the MCAT now, rather, try fixing whatever it was that made you a poor student. Why do you think you'd survive a medical school curriculum?
I have one semester left in my undergrad and my GPA is 2.72. I plan to try my best and aim to get a 30+ on the MCAT. Do I stand any chance in getting accepted at a DO school?
By retaking science courses do you mean I should I do a postbac or SMP?
I don't think I will be making the same mistakes, I did end up doing better this last semester than my previous semesters.
I did think about giving up the idea due to my low GPA, but there is nothing else I feel passionate about. I had a lot factors that led to my low grades and I have identified them and grown out of them.

A postbacc is what you need.
Just so you know, a postbacc is where you take undergraduate level science classes in order to raise your sGPA (and also your cGPA). A SMP is where you take medical school classes with first year medical students. If you are able to perform well in a SMP, then it is obvious that you have what it takes to succeed in medical school.

You'll have to do AACOMAS grade replacement to retake courses until your cGPA is 3.5 or so, and then you stand a chance. I would favor this option over a SMP.
DO school average is a 3.5 +/- 0.1. It's not going to happen.I have one semester left in my undergrad and my GPA is 2.72. I plan to try my best and aim to get a 30+ on the MCAT. Do I stand any chance in getting accepted at a DO school?
