I've been involved with a couple of different extracurricular activities during my time at school.
My freshman year, I was involved with student government. I quit during the spring of my freshman year.
During my sophomore year, I joined a service organization on campus, and then I took a leadership role within that service organization, which I've held since then. I am about to be a senior.
During my junior year, I joined the advising board for my school's pre health office. I'm supposed to talk with pre health students about scheduling, applying, etc. However, since I've joined, I've only had about 2 students come and talk to me.
I volunteered in hospitals over the summers and did research/worked part time jobs over the summers.
I am currently involved in a lab on campus that isn't that active.
So in my senior year, I will be doing the on campus research and health advising, but I just found out that I am going to have to drop the leadership position in the service organization because of scheduling conflicts. I hope to go back to the position in the spring.
I feel like I need to get more involved in school; do you think that is necessary? I also need to shadow some more, esp. in primary care. I only have about 30 hours of shadowing, for one specialty.
