I run into some problem while I want to get my Pharm tech license.
In the License application, they asked you to write down if you are High school graduate, or have GED.

I didn't graduate form high school and I do not have GED, but I got my B.A degree.

Will I be eligible to apply for the license??
(I called the California state Board of Pharmacy, and one of the representative say a B.A. won't replace GED.....and I need to take GED)

I just think it is ridiculous!
And by the way, when I register for PTCB exam, I also called the PTCB to ask if B.A. can be used to qualify for GED requirement and the represt say yes. That's how i got my certificate.

Then now the people are saying no.....
Man, I already spent $200+ for PTCB exam and Books, and now I need to pay and get GED !!!!!??(AFTER I GOT A B.A.??)

Does any one has similar experience? Do we really need to have a GED for the license??

How did you get admitted into a college with a high school diploma or GED, though?

Ah.. Well, license exams differ slightly in its requirements but if the California exam states that you need a GED rather than "at least" a GED, you may need to take the GED. I'd suggest calling to see if there's some form of exemption for you since you've gone beyond a high school education.

I got my pharm tech certificate.
It's those PTCB representative said that my B.A. can replace the GED equivalence, thus I am able to register and take the test.

And now the Borad of pharmacy representative seems very strict on having a GED.
The guy on the phone didn't know if B.A. can be replaced GED, and he needs to ask some other people, and he get back me and say "yes, you need GED" WTF!?

And I just want to ask, in general, will a Bachelor's degree be equivalent to GED?

GED is comparable to a high school diploma while a Bachelor's degree is a college-level diploma, so no, the two are not equivalent.

You'll need to finish your GED, in California.

I remember going through MEPS (army processing for enlistment) and there was a fellow there with a BS in Biology, but no GED/HS diploma. They couldn't waive the GED/HS Diploma requirement even though he had a BS in Biology.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news!
