I am sure many people are under the same shoe as me: no interview offers yet.

Before I begin, I am Canadian just in case if it matters.

My application was complete by early July. However, one of my LOR was submitted 2 months later (prof was busy with family event) so my app was mailed to each schools on
early October. I am mad about this but what can I do about it. It was out of my control.

I thought I was ok enough to get interview stat wise but I guess not.

My sGPA is 3.61 and oGPA is 3.52. (I enrolled 2 universities. I enrolled first university for a year and got around 2.5 GPA Than I transfered to the university I graduated and got 3.9 Cumulative GPA for 4 years). My DAT is QR-21 RC-18 PAT-21 Bio-21 GC-20 OC-28 AA-21 TC-22. Should I retake DAT?

I have applied to UDM, NYU, UoP, BU, U of Min, and Case only since other schools don't really accept Canadians.

So how many interviews are offered after this time around? I guess not that much... My top choice is NYU.

Any input will be greatly appreciated.

Although being Canadian will put you at a slight disadvantage compared to others, I think the only thing holding you back is that letter being sent in so late. Your DAT scores are fine and if I were you I wouldn't re-take. I have the same GPA as you and received interviews from 5 of the 6 school you listed. Just wait it out. Good luck!

It's good to hear that you got interview offers from those schools! Must feel damn good.

When was your application was mailed to the schools?

I want to do something productive to strengthen my application in case I don't get accepted this cycle. I have graduated on 2012 Spring and I pretty much been waiting for interview from school till now without doing anything. What should I do for the next 5 months to strengthen my application? I don't see much option.. I have more than enough volunteer and shadow experience already so I feel like doing them more isn't very helpful. Any thoughts?

As a fellow Canadian, the only thing that I can think of is that letter being submitted late, but even then, I would have thought that something would have come through by now. Your numbers are good, so there is still hope to land an interview, imo. In the case that this year doesn't work out, maybe apply a bit more broadly next cycle? Schools like Buffalo, USC, Temple and UPenn can be added to your list since they tend to take a handful of Canadians too. Good Luck.

Like someone else has already mentioned, your late LORs probably really hurt your chances. Chances for interviews really aren't that great at this point in the game; if you were to land one right at this very moment it's probably for an alternate spot.

I am same boat as u almost...
Canadian, oGPA 3.47, sGPA 3.8, 21AA, 20 QR, 21 RC, 20 PAT
I got 6 rejections, and finally just got an interview from NYU 3 days ago!
still waiting to hear from michigan, USC, Oregon, and and maryland.
Those 4 still say application under review.
It sucks to see that other fellow Americans get interviews with same numbers or lower
Also have over 100 hours of shaddowing, about 200 volunteer, 80 of which in a third world country, and doing research this year too.

My application was mailed out (mid) July. I don't think you should stop volunteering or shadowing. Schools love to see that you're dedicated to the career so the more hours you have the better. It's probably too late for you to take anymore classes but maybe you can apply for a short term research position or find a part-time job at a dental clinic?

Email the schools still interviewing, say you are still really interested in their dental program and you wanted to confirm that they have received all components of your application

Do you think it is good idea for me to continue calling or e-mailing admission office of my top choice school to show them my interest in the school?

That is a good suggestion. Is continuing to shadow a Dentist as good idea as working as an employee at a dental clinic? In Toronto, it is near impossible to get a paying job at dental clinic unless you are a nurse or dental hygiënist. I was thinking of having a job related to sales in order to improve my interpersonal skill. Would this be a good idea? I feel like I lack interpersonal skill from lack of work experience.

Congrats on your NYU interview!! When was your app mailed to NYU? Also, it's interesting that you got 6 rejections. I have not received any rejection yet. All of the school that I applied to says it is still under review...

Just as a side note, I have decent amount of Shadowing (120 hours), Volunteer (150 hours), and Research experience (more than 1000 hours). Do you guys think it is good idea for me to retake DAT and increase AA and TS by at least one point? I feel like if I don't increase my GPA or DAT and apply again on next cycle, I will not likely to have an interview offer since my application did not really improve over previous cycle. I am serious thinking about studying few months for DAT and retaking it to increase it by few points. Would this be worth it?
