I'm a ORM CA resident with a 3.94 GPA and 515 MCAT. I submitted all my secondaries before the labor day weekend, but only received 2 rejections and no interview. Should I admit that my chances to matriculate this year are low and plan to look for 2nd gap year options?

I’m just a fellow applicant but…how many schools did you apply to/can you share school list?

I've been fortunate enough to get interviews, but I am sitting on 0 acceptances, so I’m just acting as though I’ll have to reapply just to be safe? Can’t hurt to be prepared 🙂

As others mentioned, WAMC is good, but FWIW I was in your shoes during the same time last year, got my 1 II that later converted to an A in the new year. So it's not impossible, but you should be in the mindset of prepping for a reapp.

Your MCAT and GPA looks competitive. I am curious to see what your EC’s are and how many schools you applied to. Can you post more info or like others said post a full WAMC in order for others to help you find potential weaknesses in your application. It is not unheard of to receive an interview in Jan-Feb and eventually get an A. But at this point you should mentally prepare yourself for a reapp. Start by figuring out how you can improve your application for the next cycle.

If you submitted secondaries only just before the Labor Day weekend, just realize that you are competing for ADCOM time against people who are actively interviewing. Best practice is to get it done as soon as possible after receiving the secondary, within a week or maybe two. I submitted in the early part of August for mine and still interviewed in late October and late November. You didn't submit late, per se, but I also wouldn't say it's unrealistic to not expect an II until January, based on my own experience - Late November runs into Thanksgiving, pushing into December, and obviously, we're about to hit on the holiday season. Many start hitting hard in the beginning of January, so you still have a shot.

Prepare to re-apply to have all of your ducks in a row and be able to show meaningful change for next year. I've always thought that until you get it, its best to just continue to do your experiences and maybe get a job and save up some $$ during the mean time - both of which reinforce the next year.
