Can someone explain the "n". For an string attached at both ends it seems to me that we are using "n" as the number of antinodes. Then when you go to a sting not attached at one end we are counting antinodes and nodes 1,3,5... so on. Is this true, i guess it's just a terminology thing cuz i've gotten questions wrong that say, how many nodes are in the 1st harmonic of a standing wave. I forget the answer. I would say 2. but we plug in 1 for the formula!

Isn't n the harmonic number? So for the first harmonic n=1 though it has 2 nodes (1 antinode).
