So, unfortunately the prometric center I chose has horrible reviews.
They say things like they can hear them talking even after they wear the noise cancelling headphones and put ear plugs.
And some said even after he told them to not talk so loud, they treated him badly and they told him "oh well file a complaint." which he did.

Honestly, I've been there to talk to them before, they seem very strict and not nice at all. So I already don't like them.

The problem is I am very sensitive to sounds, that really hinders my ability to even think.

While I can take another center, but that would be another state, and the dates are all taken or I can choose another state where I have to pay money for the hotel and I am afraid I won't be able to sleep easily in that hotel and who knows if the other center is not as bad as this one. As every review I read, there are people who says their experiments were horrible.

So I need to buy this noise cancelling headphone to get used to it hurting my head as I heard it's very uncomfortable but I'd take that better then the noise of them talking!

Can anyone show me what kind of noise cancelling headphones they use, so I can buy it, I heard it's suppose to be orange or something.

Note: I'll schedule a test drive soon to check if the rumors are true or not, but meanwhile I'd like to get used to the noise cancelling headphones. and yeah I'll take my practice test in the library to be in similar testing conditions. ( our library computers next to the staff so they talk a lot )

I found this headphone on amazon, is it similar? click here

Edit: to clarify, the headphones are used for the practice tests not the real test

I'm pretty certain Prometric will let you bring your own earplugs (with no wires/cords attached) but not your own set of headphones, even if it is just for the purpose of noise cancellation. You may want to contact that specific testing center ahead of time and make sure they will even let you use what you plan on buying.

Sorry, I didn't make myself clear. I just want to do the practice tests wearing a similar headphones so I get used to it.

My bad! I looked online and the pair they provided at my testing center were exactly like this:

They worked fine, honestly. I think you can purchase them here

The noise canceling were hurting after a while so I ended up just taking them off mid way, I think getting your own might be better if you have to have one.

Edit: The ones I got were different from Ferallis, so I guess it varies from testing center.

I get pretty distracted by noises myself, and while the noise cancelling headphones at the prometric center helped they did let noise past. I was running on pure adrenaline my test day though and I'm sure you will be too, it helps a lot to drown the noise out. I was worried when people said that they started to hurt after a while, but thankfully for me that wasn't the case. I was able to wear them the entire first half and entire second half. I know I can't speak for your testing center but mine had bad reviews also, the people were pleasant though and the experience couldn't have been better really. I even had the computer RIGHT NEXT TO THE DOOR! Talk about annoying as people came in and out my entire test!!! But like I mentioned before use that test day adrenaline to your advantage and keep your eyes on the prize, it will help a lot. I don't think purchasing your own headphones or anything like that will be necessary but if it helps with any sort of anxiety you have over the test then maybe you should, it obviously wouldn't hurt! Sorry I rambled, writing this after a big ol latte and on my walk to class lol. But I hope it helped, feel free to pm if you need anything else or want clarification

I thought I needed headphones/earplugs but when I showed up to the center I realized I could not take the damn test for the life of me with them in. I sat in the Bio section for 5 minutes sitting there blankly until I took them off. It actually was nice hearing other people struggle for their respective tests in the center

bring foam earplugs and use what they give you. i thought that combination was effective and fairly comfortable. good luck!
