Hi guys, I have about 70 hours of non-clinical volunteering, 30 at a place that works with the underserved, and 40 at a science museum. Is this enough non-clinical volunteering, or how much is normally recommended? Also, should I shift my focus (increase hours) more towards the underserved volunteering? I really enjoy the science museum more but am willing to shift my focus.

I also have about 150 hours of clinical volunteering. Is that enough, or should I aim for more? I have no other clinical experience besides shadowing.

Stick with volunteering where you love. Also up the number with underserved.

Loophole if it isn’t a lie: If in your AMCAS description you say “Volunteering in a science museum that predominantly serves kids and families from the surrounding low SES background” boom golden.

Many schools have secondaries that ask you to expand on your most meaningful service experience, so make sure you do enough so that you'll have something to say - it is very obvious when someone does volunteering just to check a box so make sure that you find something that you genuinely love or at least enjoy. GL!

The ad coms who post here regard shadowing as a very weak form of clinical volunteering because you merely observe others. It's very important that you add more active clinical volunteering.

Yes, nonclinical volunteering with underserved populations is better and yes you do need more hours.

Shadowing is NOT volunteering.
