Will taking/repeating classes as a non-degree student count towards my undergrade GPA for DO schools? I asked the admission office today and they told me that I wont be able to do a post-bacc just a non-degree since I will only be taking only 3-5 classes.

So you have an undergraduate degree already? A Bachelors in some field of study?

Yes... the classes will count as undergrad GPA as I am assuming they are undergrad level?

Will have a bachelors in science by the end of this spring semester. I'm apparently too late to apply as a postbac (deadline Feb 1) so my only choice is non-degree.

Yes, I'm planning on taking only undergrad classes.

Does anyone knows if there are any disadvantages of doing non-degree over a postbac?

Most post-bacc and SMP programs have linkage / advising with specific medical schools (example: Temple's SMP has a guaranteed acceptance to Temple SoM for 3.5+ GPA).

Sorry Morsetlis, you are misunderstanding the question.

I'm taking Physics I and Chem I as non-degree because I got C-,C first time. DO schools will count that as a retake when you fill out the AACOMAS. And no there are no disadvantages, as long as you have good MCAT, no/few Ws, and good EC/LORs, taking 3-5 classes to improve your GPA would be better than trying to do first year basic sciences which will cost you 20k.

Ah, that's nice to hear. I wont be able to take any classes over the summer because my school is very anal about this. I will have to re-enroll as a non-degree for the fall and take about 4 classes, maybe even 5. Going to take advantage of the summer to shadow and study for the MCAT.

BTW, is it possible to apply to DO's schools early and take classes during the spring semester and then update my AACOMAS as soon as I recieve my grades?

Oh, yes.

Follow this advice then since I misunderstood the question. It is correct.
