My BA is in Business and I have a grad degree (but also non medical)

Are there any Doctor degrees that are in medical fields that don't require a medical undergrad degree? If so which ones?

If you want to go to medical school to become a Medical Doctor (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO), your undergrad degree does not matter as long as you take the prerequisite science classes. Most of us nontrads graduated with no intention to go into medicine, and then went back to school to take the prerequisite classes. My undergrad was in European History, about as useless a degree as you can get.

If you want to go to medical school, you will need to take a year each of general chemistry, physics, biology, and organic chemistry, all with labs. Depending on your undergrad GPA, you might also need to retake classes to boost your GPA to the point where you are a competitive applicant for medical school.

Good advice. Also many schools, especially liberal arts colleges, don't even have a "pre-med" major. Many pre-meds choose to be bio majors because they've satisfied many of the requirements already with the pre-med courseload. However, I've heard it argued that other majors can be as if not more interesting to med schools because it makes for a more diverse student body.

My B.S. is in accounting and I'm halfway done with the pre-reqs for medical school admissions!!!

Thanks guys. Do you think it mattes that my BA was from a DETC school? (national not regional)

Most schools need regional accreditation. You will have to look at AMCAS and AACOMAS guidelines as well as speak to some of the medical schools you may be interested in to see what their thoughts are...

Thanks. That is part of what worries me. Do you think it will matter that my post BA grad degree (non-medical) is regional? Or do you think they still want to see a regional BA regardless of the grad degree?
